Meet the Board

I think I became an auto enthusiast many years ago after watching Steve McQueen in LeMans. I must have seen the movie a dozen times. I went through years of owning Firebirds and Z28s before discovering German performance cars. In the 90s I drove BMWs and Audis, but really became loyal to Audi after purchasing a 2004 S4. I joined the Audi Club in 2007 and became President in 2009. I’m committed to increasing the variety of our club events and growing our membership. Member participation has definitely increased throughout 2009. We had our greatest turnout ever (50 drivers) for the 2010 Ice driving School.

One of the most thrilling events we conduct is the Driver’s School at Road America. Having the opportunity to drive your Audi on this phenomenal track is – “priceless”. I’m anxiously awaiting for this year’s event to drive my new 2010 S4 on the track! Please contact me with any questions, concerns or suggestions.

I’ve been a member of the Audi Badger Chapter since its conception in 2001, serving as president for the past five years. I’ve enjoy all the aspects of the club including social, technical, driving events and meeting other Audi owners. I have had 4 Audis and currently drive a 2000 S4. My wife drives a 2006 A4 Avant. Three years ago I sold my Ace Hardware store and got my “dream” job, working at “Yard Racing”, a vintage race car prep shop in Milwaukee. In this past, I “vintage raced” a 1973 911 Porsche, I was also in the Porsche Club of America – Milwaukee Region for 23 years.

Currently I have the opportunity to race and maintain an assortment of vintage race cars in “sprint” and endurance races of one, two, and three hours in length. I look forward in meeting many of our ABC members at some of the upcoming events.

Henry Bakemeyer has been driving Audis for five years. He is the proud owner of a 2000 A6, 4.2 wide-body quattro.

His wife, Lucia has a 2005 A4 3.0L quattro cab. Henry’s interest is driving safely, fast.

Our treasurer, Mary Medo, has been a member of the Audi Club for a number of years. Her primary involvement has been at driver schools and teen clinics. She has attended driver schools at tracks all over the country and had conducted classroom sessions for novice or intermediate students. She takes her turn in the right seat, too! At teen clinics, she helps set up the exercises and coaches teen drivers as they maneuver the course. She loves to see her students improve and demonstrate smooth, consistent car control.

When she’s not doing ‘car things’, Mary works with college students who are working to become certified teachers and she markets the book she wrote for teachers. She grows her own vegetables, bakes bread, goes to Jazzercise, and takes care of her husband, Larry.
