2008 Spring Drive

April 19, 2008

The weather forecast said rain but they were wrong!  It turned out to be a great day for driving and tailgating.  The group departed from the Madison and Milwaukee areas with road maps leading us through scenic back roads to our destination:  The EAA AirVenture Museum in Oshkosh.

The Madison group beat us by a few minutes.  We had introductions, including our youngest participant - Barrett, 6 weeks old!

We had snacks in the parking lot to keep us going until our late afternoon lunch.

Here is our Audi lineup - a sharp looking group!

The museum is a wonderful educational opportunity for all ages.  The vintage planes really sparkle and each has its own story to tell.  There are more than 170 civil and military aircraft displays.  The museum has five movie theaters along with hands-on interactive exhibits and simulations.

The hands-on exhibits were a hit.

Here's Mary Medo trying her hand at hang-gliding simulation.  Many of us tried the Microsoft Flight Simulators.  Mary and Christine went upside down as they took their turn on the EAA Flight Simulator.

We headed to Fratello's Brewery & Restaurant for lunch later in the afternoon.  It seemed like everyone tried something different from their menu.  Everyone enjoyed the food and service.  We might just have to return when it's warm enough to eat on their patio.

If you missed this spring drive, join us next year.   We look forward to seeing you.
